Ezequiel Plaza
Ezequiel Plaza Garay (also Exequiel Plaza ; born August 11, 1892 in Santiago de Chile , † October 19, 1947 ibid) was a Chilean painter .
Plaza entered the Escuela de Bellas Artes in 1906 , where he was a student of Pedro Lira , Cosme San Martín , José Mercedes Ortega , Ricardo Richon Brunet and Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor . He completed his training with the Spanish sculptor Antonio Coll y Pi at the Escuela de Artes Decorativas . As a student of Sotomayor, he was one of the painters' group of the Generacion del Trece .
After the death of Alberto Valenzuela Llanos , he was professor at the Escuela de Bellas Artes and director of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes for four years . He has received several awards for his work. The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (1963) and the Universidad de Concepción (1985) honored him with a retrospective of his works. Sotomayor considered him his most important student.
