The Universidad de Concepción (UDEC) ( de .: University of Concepción ) is a university in Concepción , Chile .
The university, founded in 1919, was the first regional university in Chile. The university was founded by Enrique Molina Garmendia (1871–1964). The current President of the UDEC is Sergio Lavanchy Merino. As the third largest university in Chile, it is one of the most important universities in Latin America.
The buildings are distributed over the central campus “Concepción Campus” as well as the “Chillán Campus” and the “Los Ángeles Campus”.
82 study programs (18 doctoral programs, 42 master’s programs, 30 university certificates) are offered at 18 faculties and around 60,000 students are trained.

The son of the rector and medical student Miguel Enríquez founded the Marxist-Leninist Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria MIR ( Movement of the Revolutionary Left ) at the University of Concepción in 1965 .
