Life

Birthplace of Johann Christoph Rincklake

Rincklake was born the son of a carpenter. After completing an apprenticeship as a craftsman, his artistic work began. Around 1800 he married Marianne Wermerskirch, with whom he had five children. They lived together in Münster.

Rincklake is very important in international art history . As a pupil he attended the painting academies in Berlin , Vienna , Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf and stayed at each for a few years.

The house where Johann Christoph Rincklake was born stood in Harsewinkel until May 2005. From there it was to Marienfeld translocated . Here it was rebuilt in the summer of 2005 near the former Cistercian monastery .

Works

Rincklake portrayed well-known noble and middle-class personalities from Westphalia . Franz von Fürstenberg , Count Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg , Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher , Freiherr vom Stein and Princess Pauline zur Lippe were painted by him, as were numerous families from Münster and the last abbot of the Marienfeld monastery . As a portrait painter he also immortalized the "little" people: the innkeeper's daughter, the son of the master locksmith, the baker of the cathedral chapter, the tutor or the singer of the prince-bishop's chapel. A large number of the pictures are cataloged, but other pictures are missing.

In the Landesmuseum in Münster some pictures can be seen from Rincklake.
