He had his first successes at the Junior World Championships in 2003. On the track he won gold in the 10,000 m points elimination, on the road he took silver in the 5000 m, 20,000 m and in the marathon.
At the 2004 inline speed skating European championships on the track, he won a complete set of medals in the individual competitions. He won the elimination race over 15,000 m, took silver over 5000 m and bronze in the 1000 m sprint decision. In addition, there is the gold medal with the relay over 5000 m. In the same year he also won his first medals at the Inline Speed Skating World Championships . On the track he won the silver medal in the relay and on the road he was victorious over the marathon distance. At the World Games 2005 he won gold over 5000 m and silver over 3000 m. The EM 2005 was very successful with a total of four gold and one silver medal. At the following World Cup, he won the title on the track over 15,000 m.
The next successes at major events were not seen until 2008. At the European Championships he was again the most successful participant with three titles. At the 2008 World Cup , like three years ago, he won the title in the 15,000 m elimination race. He set a new world record in 23: 02.778 minutes , which Peter Michael from New Zealand broke in 2011 . In 2009 he won the Berlin half marathon in a record time and the overall ranking of the German Inline Cup . At the World Games 2009 he won a silver medal in the 1000 m sprint and at the European Championships silver in the relay and bronze over 15,000 m.
In 2012 Contin was successful again at the World Championships in Italy . He wins once silver in the 10,000 m points race and twice bronze in the 1000 m and 20,000 m elimination. At the 2014 World Championships in Argentina , Contin becomes the most successful participant with four gold medals. He wins the 1000 m, the 10000 m points race, the marathon and the 3000 m relay. There is also a silver medal in the 15,000 m elimination race.
