Branimir Bajić (in Cyrillic : Бранимир Бајић, born October 19, 1979 in Velika Obarska , Bijeljina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Bosnian-Herzegovinian football player who was most recently under contract with MSV Duisburg .
Career
societies
1997–2010: Radnik Bijeljina, Partizan Belgrad, TuS Koblenz, Denizlispor
Bajić began his career in the youth of FK Radnik Bijeljina . From there he moved to FK Partizan Belgrade in 2000 , for which he - apart from a six-month guest appearance at Al Wahda - was active until 2007. Bajić moved together with his teammate Marko Lomić to Germany for the second division club TuS Koblenz . Despite his contract originally running until 2010, he moved to the club again for the 2009/10 season and ran for the Turkish club Denizlispor .
2010–2018: MSV Duisburg
In the summer of 2010 Bajić returned to Germany and hired the second division MSV Duisburg , where he signed a two-year contract and became part of a heavily restructured team that was predicted to have a difficult season. In his first year in Duisburg he was under Milan Šašić in both defensive midfield and central defense and, as an experienced player in a comparatively young team with solid performances, was part of an unexpectedly strong season for Duisburg. The team reached the DFB Cup final as a complete surprise , with the "Zebras" knocking out two Bundesliga clubs in the cup season and conceding only two goals until the final. The final against Schalke 04 , in which he was on the pitch for the full playing time, was clearly lost 5-0.
In the following season , Duisburg got off to a weak start to the season, was only 13th after the first half of the season and was in danger of relegation for a long time. In an overall disappointing second division year in which the MSV finished tenth, Bajić was still one of the stronger players and as a defender was even the best scorer of his team with 6 hits. As vice-captain, he was also the captain of the MSV 19 times. After the season he extended the contract for the 2012/13 season and was henceforth the first captain of the "Zebras".
His third season in Duisburg got off to a devastating start: the team he led lost all of their first five league games; Coach Oliver Reck was already on leave after three games. Bajić could not build on the performances from the first two years and played a weak first half of the season. Up until the 13th matchday, Duisburg was in the last place in the 2nd Bundesliga table. Under the coach Kosta Runjaic , who followed on the bar , the team improved significantly, played - like their captain - a convincing second half series, came fourth in the second half of the table and was able to secure the league early on. The season ended in a respectable sporting way, however, with the license withdrawal and forced relegation of the MSV from the 2nd Bundesliga .
As team captain and one of the few active players, Bajić remained loyal to the club in the following third division season and played a good season in League 3 under Karsten Baumann as a fixed point of a team that was put together in a very short time and in great need and thus contributed to that of many Pages feared the risk of being passed on, which did not become concrete over the entire season. MSV secured participation in the DFB Cup 2014/15 by winning the Lower Rhine Cup . Because of his loyalty to the club even in difficult times and his consistently strong performances, he became one of the most respected professionals in the Meidericher squad, especially this season.
In the summer of 2014 he contracted Pfeiffer's glandular fever , which meant that he missed the preparation for the new season and instead temporarily accumulated for the Duisburg top division reserve. This is one of the reasons why MSV newcomer Steffen Bohl took over the captain's armband from the club's longest-serving professional in 2014 . He then managed to return to the first team under Gino Lettieri , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga after a strong season-end spurt with 18 points from the last seven games of the season in 2015.
In the following second division season Bajić ran again as the captain of the "Zebras". Although he played a respectable season as a central defender at the age of 36, he could not make a decisive contribution to the fact that the often defeated team was able to move away from the relegation ranks: up to the 33rd match day Duisburg had consistently occupied a direct relegation rank and could only be through one to save strong catch-up to the relegation place. In the additional games Bajić rose with his team against the Würzburger Kickers . He was also warned in April 2016 for a negligent doping offense .
After the Duisburg's relegation from the second division, he managed to gain direct resurgence as a third division champion with the MSV 2016/17 . Again Bajić was a regular player and contributed with strong defensive performances to a very stable season performance of the Meidericher. During the season it became known that he would also be available to his club as a stand-by professional in the 2nd Bundesliga. After four more appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, he finally ended his active career at the end of the 2017/18 season.
National team
Branimir Bajić played a total of 24 times for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national team between 2004 and 2008 . On August 20, 2008, he played for his home country for the last time in the friendly against Bulgaria .
Career as a coach
In December 2018, his ex-club Duisburg introduced him as a new "individual trainer". On the one hand, he works with injured professionals, on the other hand, he takes care of the club's young players.
