Kevin O'Connor (born October 19, 1985 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player .

Athletic career

O'Connor, who was born in the Irish capital, went through the youth academy of Wolverhampton Wanderers, then became a regular in the reserve team, but remained under the then head coach Glenn Hoddle in the A-team under consideration. Instead, you loaned the young midfielder, whose older brothers James and Danny are also active in professional football, in March 2006 to the fourth division Stockport County , where he completed seven league games and scored one goal by the end of the 2005/06 season. He made his debut on April 8, 2006 as a substitute on the occasion of the 3-3 draw against Cheltenham Town .

With the signing of his compatriot Mick McCarthy as the new coach, O'Connors rose immediately. He made his league debut for the Wolves on August 5, 2006 against Plymouth Argyle and ensured the 1-1 draw with a deflected shot - the goal was considered an own goal by Frenchman Mathias Kouo-Doumbé after the game . After he was permanently represented in the first three championship games, a serious injury ensured that the season ended prematurely for him. When he continued to work on restoring his fitness at the beginning of the 2007/08 season, his club offered him a contract extension for another year and the option of a loan with Gillingham FC . The last-mentioned deal did not materialize, however, especially since O'Connor, as a young father, shied away from the long travel distance, but his injury problems also came back, which forced him to have an operation in November 2007.

In May 2008, the Wolverhampton Wanderers management announced that O'Connor's contract would not be renewed, but that he would still have the opportunity to rehabilitate in Wolverhampton. In September 2008, the former Irish youth selection player played for the fourth division Port Vale in trial training sessions.

In 2010 O'Connor returned to the low-class non-league football and hired after a brief stint at AFC Telford United in June 2010 at the sixth-class league rivals Worcester City .

In 2012 O'Connor returned to Ireland and played for the Bray Wanderers in the League of Ireland Premier Division . In 2014 he moved to first division promoted Longford Town .

Kevin O'Connor has two brothers who also play soccer. James O'Connor was an active soccer player until 2014 and is now the coach of Louisville City FC in the United Soccer League . His other brother, Danny O'Connor, was also active until the end of 2014 and most recently played with Kevin for the Bray Wanderers.
