Eli Kochański

Eli Kochański (born May 8, 1886 in Odessa , † October 19, 1940 in Warsaw ) was a Polish cellist and music teacher.

The son of the synagogue cantor and violin teacher Joshua Kahan was first taught by Emil Młynarski and was then cello student of Arthur Wulffius at the music school of the Odessa Music Society for seven years . From 1904 to 1906 he continued his cello training at the Leipzig Conservatory with Julius Klengel , where he studied music theory with Johann Merkel and chamber music with Hans Sitt .

From 1908 he was a member of the string quartet, from 1909 a cellist and from 1912 to 1926 concertmaster of the cello group of the Warsaw National Philharmonic . He also performed as a soloist and chamber musician. In 1909 he became a cello teacher at the Lucjan Marczewski School of Music in Warsaw; from 1919 to 1939 he was a professor at the Warsaw Conservatory .
