Lucas Thwala (born October 19, 1981 in Nelspruit ) is a South African football player and former national player for his country . The left-footer currently plays for SuperSport United, previously he was active for the Platinum Stars , Orlando Pirates and Saints FC Johannesburg .

Style of play

Thwala is considered a tough central defender, strong and uncompromising in a duel. Usually it is aimed at the opponent's scorer. With his style he wins many duels, but also causes some free kicks.

He is one of the pillars of the " Bafana Bafana ". When he missed the Confederations Cup in 2009 due to an injury, this meant a weakening of his team. He is also dangerous on the offensive.

In standard situations in the opposing half, he always goes forward and, thanks to his headball strength, creates a goal hazard. With eight goals, he was the Orlando Pirates' top scorer in the 2009/10 season. He was also named Player of the Year in the ABSA Premier League for his achievements.
