Gerhard Geurts (born July 13, 1935 in Goch ) is a school and non-fiction author and former director of studies .

Life

After completing his education at the Progymnasium in Goch and the Kreisgymnasium in Geldern , he studied in Cologne and Munich, graduating as a commercial teacher. He began his professional career in 1961 at the Bergisch Gladbach Commercial Vocational and Business School and was retired there in 1997. He also taught at the higher commercial school and at the technical college for economics. In 1961, when he started his career, he moved to Bergisch Gladbach. Here he started a family and had two children.

He recognized his interests in the design of teaching and learning materials early on. This led, among other things, to his being appointed to the textbook commission of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . The experience gained in this way did not let him calm down after his retirement, so that he soon took up his pen again. His attention was now particularly directed to the regional industrial history and the former mining industry. In addition, as chairman of the association of the community college of Bergisch Gladbach, he dedicates himself to extracurricular further education. He is also working on the continued existence of the Bergisch Gladbach School Museum - Cüppers Collection - and helps with archiving the holdings.
