Laura of Cordoba

Laura of Córdoba (* around 800; † October 19, 864 in Córdoba ) was abbess in the monastery of S. Maria de Cuteclara in Córdoba , Spain.

Life

Venerated to this day in Spain as one of the martyrs of Cordoba , the saint lived in the 9th century. After the death of her husband, she entered the monastery of Santa Maria de Cuteclara. Soon she was appointed abbess of the monastery.

When the Moors invaded , the convent of the monastery was captured. Laura of Cordoba suffered martyrdom; she was killed in a cauldron full of molten lead. Her feast day is October 19th.
