Life
Wolfgang Lukschy initially worked for several years in his apprenticeship as a chemigrapher , later also as a film copier. In 1928, at the age of 23, he took acting lessons from Paul Bildt and soon received engagements at various stages in Germany. In addition to the Volksbühne in Berlin , he performed in Stuttgart, Würzburg, Munich and Hanover, among others, until he returned to the Schiller Theater in Berlin eleven years later . In 1940 he played his first film role in Friedrich Schiller - Triumph of a Genius , but only a few other roles were to follow until the end of the war. Lukschy embodied the gallant lover at this time and initially reached the height of his popularity in the revue film The Woman of My Dreams at the side of Marika Rökk .
After the Second World War , Lukschy also worked as a director and continued to work at the theater and at Deutsche Film AG (DEFA) . At the theater he acted about 500 times in the role of Professor Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady , in the film he played several leading roles alongside Petra Peters , Tilly Lauenstein , Walter Gross and Karin Jacobsen . In the 1960s he was seen in Edgar Wallace and Karl May films . He could also be seen in international films such as The Longest Day (1962) or For a Fistful of Dollars (1964). In his film roles, he now mostly portrayed shady characters who hide their exaggerated ambition or their questionable past behind external correctness. On television , Lukschy played in the crime series Tatort and other television games .
Dubbing has always been one of Lukschy's main activities : James Mason , Walter Matthau , Stewart Granger , Gregory Peck , John Wayne and others often spoke with his voice in German-language movie theaters. In the film The Third Man (dubbed version from 1949) he voiced Joseph Cotten for the role of Holly Martins, in twelve o'clock noon (High Noon) (dubbed version from 1953) Gary Cooper as town marshal Will Kane. His grave is located in Dahlem Forest Cemetery in Berlin in Dept. 1B-6.
