Samson and the Treasure of the Incas (original title: Sansone e il tesoro degli Incas ) is a 1964 Italian-German-French co-production film directed by Piero Pierotti, which mixes motifs from the antique film with those from a Western. In German-speaking countries it was released in cinemas on February 1, 1966; the shortened GDR television title is The Treasure of the Incas .

Alan Fox is falsely charged with the murder of Janet's father, old Nixon, and is taken to Silver City for trial. The stagecoach that carries him is ambushed on the way by the bandits led by Jerry Damon, who is also the actual killer of Nixon. Alan's old friend Samson, who thinks he is dead, sets out to avenge him and soon finds the trail of Damon, who meanwhile has the plan to unearth a fabulous Inca treasure hidden in the mountains. Samson and some friends manage to take out Damon's gang and find Alan alive; But they are all now captured by the Incas, who see their holy place desecrated, and are to be sacrificed.
Inca Princess Mysia, who has fallen in love with Alan, tries, disguised as a boy, to free the prisoners, but is caught and also sentenced to death by the high priest. Samson can bring the temple to collapse due to his outstanding physical strength and thus save the situation; Mysia will spend her life with Alan, Samson will marry Janet himself.

The lexicon of international film saw a “(e) infinite amalgamation of Wild West milieu and mythological costume film.” The dramaturgical blow “is not only due to the dramaturgical faulty construction, but also to the inability of the director Piero Pierotti; it's not even enough for him to have a credible fight. ", complained Georg Herzberg in the" Filmwoche ". Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler was rather amused: Alan Steel looks like a big, fat cuddly bear, whose face has not changed a single time during the entire film. As an Italian-German-French co-production with the Austrian Toni Sailer in the lead role, who meets South American Incas in the American West, the film is truly international.
