Harry Riebauer

Harry Riebauer (born July 4, 1921 in Reichenberg , Czechoslovakia , † November 8, 1999 in Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

From 1945 to 1947 Riebauer took private acting lessons from Ulrich von der Trenck and in 1947 received an engagement at the Theater von Zittau . In 1949 he moved to the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin, in 1950 he appeared in the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm . From 1951 to 1961 he belonged to the ensemble of the Volksbühne Berlin , after which he was a freelance actor.

In the DEFA film, the 1.94 meter tall Riebauer was mostly committed to the embodiment of fearsome Nazi henchmen, such as an SA man in Das Beil von Wandsbek , an SS man in Stronger Than the Night and Lieutenant Meyer in Ernst Thälmann - Führer its class . In the American production, Broken Chains , he played the warden of a prisoner of war camp. In The Story of Little Muck , he was the seemingly overpowering rival of the title hero in a running competition. Also in the Edgar Wallace films he mainly took on rogue roles, but in The Strangler of Castle Blackmoor he stood as a Scotland Yard inspector on the side of the law.

Since the 1970s, Riebauer has been active as a volunteer animal welfare inspector for the city of Berlin.
