Werner Schulz-Wittan

Werner Schulz-Wittan (born May 14, 1907 in Finsterwalde , † November 30, 1969 in Berlin ) was a German actor and director .

Life

Werner Schulz-Wittan was one of the first older actors to join the “Young Ensemble” founded by the Deutsches Theater-Institut Weimar Schloss Belvedere . Together with him, under the direction of Maxim Vallentin , he built the new Berlin Maxim-Gorki-Theater from 1952 , to which he was a director and actor until 1959. From 1960 until his death, after a long and serious illness, he worked at the Volksbühne Berlin . In addition to his theater work, he worked as a director and actor for German television , the latter also for DEFA .

Werner Schulz-Wittan was married to the actress Dorothea Volk .
