Golden Boy is a German television film from 1962. The film adaptation of the play of the same name by Clifford Odets was filmed in Hamburg in 1961 and was broadcast for the first time on January 25, 1962.

action

The young Joe Bonaparte, played by Klaus Kammer, is supposed to start a career as a musician according to the wishes of his father Frank, who wants to give him an expensive violin for his 21st birthday. But because of a lack of money, Joe persuades the manager Tom Moody to send him into the ring as a replacement for a boxer who lost due to a hand injury. Indeed, the first successes are showing and Joe brings his clients money, but he gradually doubts his decision. Lorna Moon, who is indebted to Moody, can motivate him to keep boxing for a while, but after an opponent is killed in a fight, both Joe and Lorna change their minds.
