Karin Jacobsen

Karin Jacobsen (born March 14, 1924 in Düren , † September 19, 1989 in Nussdorf am Inn , district of Rosenheim ) was a German actress , director and author .

Life

Karin Jacobsen played her first film roles in the late 1940s in various post-war films, including Die Andere , Artistenblut and Furioso . She played a small role in 1952, directed by Kurt Hoffmann, in the comedy Weekend in Paradise . In addition to her work as an actress, Jacobsen also worked as a screenwriter in the 1950s, including for the films Men in Dangerous Age , Misses from Office and Paths of Chance . These films were directed by Carl-Heinz Schroth .

Jacobsen also played theater. After the Second World War she had a permanent engagement at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg under the management of Willy Maertens . There she played in 1948, alongside Carl-Heinz Schroth, in the play Die Hofloge by Karl Farkas . Other roles at the Thalia Theater were: Tatjana in the play Towarisch by Jacques Deval (1952), Elmire in Tartuffe (1952), Estelle in The Tattooed Rose (1952), Irene in the play Geliebter Schatten by Jacques Deval (1952; German premiere ) and Florence in the world premiere of the comedy she wrote herself, Paths of Chance (1953). She played other stage roles at the Thalia Theater in Mrs. Cheney's Ending by Frederick Lonsdale (season 1954/1955) and in Spiel im Schloss by Ferenc Molnár (season 1954/1955). In 1971 she received the Federal Film Prize for her role in the film Das Freudenhaus . Until shortly before her death she stood on the stage of the Munich theater Die Kleine Freiheit , where she found her last artistic home, in the piece she wrote herself for the wedding anniversary .

Jacobsen later switched to television, where she continued to work as an actress and screenwriter. On television, she took on roles in adaptations of various plays by Noël Coward , Jean Giraudoux and Jacques Deval.

In later years Jacobsen only had a few film roles. In 1971 she played the former prostitute Rosa , who longs for a middle-class life, in the film Das Freudenhaus , directed by Alfred Weidenmann . She was awarded the gold film ribbon for her portrayal . In 1979 Jacobsen was seen again on television in the comedy Der müde Theodor , a performance from the Millowitsch Theater in Cologne , recorded by Westdeutscher Rundfunk and broadcast on ARD .

She was also active as a radio play speaker for the Northwest German Broadcasting Corporation , including in Gestatten, my name is Cox , and for the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation .

Jacobsen wrote as a writer especially comedies and boulevard comedies , including the Posse unlucky school , the comedy paths of chance (first performed in 1953) and boomerang . She later directed many of her plays on a regular basis until the 1980s. One of her last directorial work was in 1987 the staging of the comedy Tratsch in the stairwell with Jenny Jürgens at the theater Die Kleine Freiheit in Munich. She also edited pieces by other authors.

Jacobsen was married to Carl-Heinz Schroth for 19 years, who died two months before her. There is a son from this marriage. Karin Jacobsen is buried in the north cemetery in Munich. The resting place (grave no. 68-7-3) has now been abandoned.
