Aline Danioth (born March 12, 1998 ) is a Swiss ski racer . It mainly starts in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines .

biography

Danioth comes from Andermatt in the canton of Uri . She competed in her first FIS races in November 2014 and was third on the podium in her fifth race, a slalom in Saas-Fee . After further good results, she was used for the first time in the European Cup on January 8, 2015 at the Melchsee-Frutt slalom , where she immediately scored the first points as 23rd. In the same month she competed at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Malbun , where she won the bronze medal in slalom and was sixth in giant slalom . At the beginning of March 2015, she was the second youngest athlete in the Swiss squad for the Junior World Championship in Hafjell , where she finished seventh in the slalom.

For the 2015/16 season, Danioth was accepted into the C-team of Swiss-Ski . It was used regularly in the European Cup this winter and was classified among the top ten for the first time in this racing series at the beginning of December in the Trysil giant slalom . On December 20, 2015, she made her World Cup debut at the Giant Slalom in Courchevel , but was unable to qualify for the second round in this race, as in the following two World Cup appearances in Lienz . The Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer in February 2016 went much better for the Swiss woman : she won a medal in all disciplines, including gold in slalom and combined . She was also successful at the Junior World Championships in Sochi , which took place shortly thereafter, and became Junior World Champion in combination. In the Super-G , in the giant slalom and in the slalom, she barely missed further medals as fourth. At the end of March 2016, she became Swiss champion in giant slalom.

On December 10, 2016, Danioth tore a cruciate ligament at the World Cup giant slalom in Sestriere , which meant that she was out for the rest of the season. A little over a year later, she won her first European Cup race, a parallel giant slalom in Kronplatz . On December 28th, 2017, she finished 19th in the Lienz World Cup Slalom, scoring World Cup points for the first time. At the 2018 Junior World Championships in Davos , she won the gold medal in the combined and team competition as well as the slalom bronze medal. In the 2017/18 European Cup , she won the slalom classification.

In the 2018/19 season, Danioth managed to establish himself in the World Cup. On January 8, 2019, she finished tenth in the Flachau slalom in the top 10 for the first time. At the 2019 World Championships in Åre , she won the gold medal in the team competition . After a promising start to the 2019/20 World Cup with two top 10 placements, she suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee in the parallel race in Sestriere on January 19, 2020 and had to end the season early.
