Paul Bourotte (born January 4, 1876 in Rhèges , † August 5, 1935 in Gagny ) was a French cyclist .
He got into cycling through a detour: he suffered serious injuries after falling from his father's wagon and was taken to a Paris hospital. After his recovery, he stayed in Paris and took a job. For 15 francs of his earnings, he bought an old bike that had already made the long-distance Paris-Brest-Paris trip. He then trained and contested his first races. His well-rounded posture on the bike led to the nickname "the frog".
Paul Bourotte was a professional from 1897 to 1904 . In his first year as a professional driver, he was the French runner-up in the standing race . In 1901 he won the national title in this discipline. In 1902 he won the sprint classic Grand Prix de l'UVF .
In the races for professionals, which were held in Paris as part of the 1900 Olympic Games , Bourotte took third place in the points race behind Floyd MacFarland and Mathieu Cordang .
After the end of his active sporting career, Paul Bourotte became sporting director of the Alcyon team .
