Équipe Paule Ka is a cycling team in women's cycling based in Littau , Switzerland .

history

After the team already had the status of a UCI Women's Team with a Swiss license from 2006 to 2009 and was led by ex-professionals from the men's sector such as Sven Montgomery and Felice Puttini with riders like Karin Thürig , Emma Pooley and Noemi Cantele , the team returned in 2014 returned to international cycling under the name Bigla Pro Cycling Team .

The name sponsor Bigla is a manufacturer of furniture in the office and health sector. For the 2016 season, the bike manufacturer Cervélo became the first name sponsor, and the team was registered with a German license.

The team was led in 2014 by Emil Zimmermann, who was supported by the sporting directors Ernst Meier and Mario Vonhof . In 2016, the former professional cyclists Dirk Baldinger and Fabian Jeker as well as the former German women's national coach Jochen Dornbusch took over the sporting management.

One of the team's greatest successes was Lotta Lepistö's victories in the UCI Women's WorldTour - one-day races Gent-Wevelgem and Open de Suède Vårgårda in 2017.

In November 2018, the former riders accused Iris Slappendel , Carmen Small , Vera Koedooder and Doris Schweizer in an article in the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant the team manager Thomas Campana of bullying by racing drivers of the team. Campana denied the allegations. While Annemiek van Vleuten , who drove for the team in 2017, confirmed the allegations, Ashleigh Moolman , who was a team member until the end of the 2018 season, said she did not want to be involved in this “escapade to shame Thomas”.

For the 2020 season, Katusha Sports , previously the main sponsor of Team Katusha Alpecin in men's cycling, became clothing supplier and the second name sponsor of the team, which again received a Swiss license after having previously ridden with a Danish license. In the same year the team became a founding member of UNIO , an association of team operators in women's cycling. After the two previous main sponsors ran into financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , the Parisian fashion label Paule Ka took over the patronage from July 2020 .
