Lotta Henttala born Lepistö (born June 28, 1989 in Noormarkku ) is a Finnish cyclist . Since the beginning of the 2010s she has been one of the most successful cyclists in her country.

Athletic career

In 2006 Lotta Lepistö became Finnish junior champion in road racing , in the individual time trial she finished third. Two years later she became two-time national runner-up in road racing and in the individual time trial, and in 2009 she finished second again. In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 she was Finnish road racing champion four times in a row, and national time trial champion in 2014 and 2015.

At the UCI Road World Championships 2016 in Doha , Lepistö won the bronze medal in road racing. This made her the first Finnish woman in the history of cycling to win a medal at world championships.

In 2017, the Finn won the Belgian one-day race Dwars door Vlaanderen in the sprint and triumphed four days later at Gent-Wevelgem . In her first Giro d'Italia Femminile she won the 6th stage, finished second at Prudential RideLondon and won the Open de Suède Vårgårda .

In 2018 she became Finnish double champion for the fifth time in a row and won the fifth stage of the Women's Tour . The following year, she won two stages of the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana and one stage of the Healthy Aging Tour .

Private

In October 2019 Lepistö married the Finnish cyclists Joonas Henttala with which they in Spanish Girona lives (as of 2020).
