Timo Bichler (born March 22, 1999 in Burghausen ) is a German cyclist.
Athletic career
Timo Bichler started mountain bike races at the age of eight and was a member of the national team at the age of 14. At the age of 15 he switched to the short-term area of track cycling . Already in his first race in Frankfurt an der Oder he impressed with an excellent time of 35.1 seconds over 500 meters. His current trainer, Frank Ziegler , became aware of this race and brought him to the track bike team at the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern . In 2015 he set a new German junior record over 500 meters at the German championships with 32.872 seconds .
In 2016, Bichler won silver in the Keirin at the European Junior Championships . In the following year he achieved two international successes in the team sprint with Carl Hinze and Elias Edbauer : silver at the Junior World Championships with the new German record of 45.406 seconds and bronze at the Junior European Championships in the new record time of 44.995 seconds. At the German track championships he was together with Sascha Deringer and Elias Edbauer German junior champion in the team sprint.
In 2018 Timo Bichler was nominated for the fifth round of the Track Cycling World Cup in Minsk . He was nominated for the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow , where he competed in the team sprint with Stefan Bötticher and Joachim Eilers . The trio secured the bronze medal there.
Honors
In 2015 Timo Bichler was awarded the Sports Badge of Honor by the City of Passau and in 2016 in Kaiserslautern as an “Elite Student of Sports”.
