The 131st German Championships in track cycling took place from June 7th to 11th, 2017 in the Oderlandhalle in Frankfurt (Oder) , hosted by the Frankfurt Cycling Club 90 . Most recently, the championships were awarded to Frankfurt (Oder) in 2012. Since then, the track has been shortened from its former 285 meters to the internationally usual length of 250 meters.
We were looking for champions in the age categories elite, juniors and youth, a total of 44 decisions were made.
On the third day of the competition, Domenic Weinstein followed suit in the same discipline: In qualifying, he already improved his own German record from October 2015 (4: 17.417 minutes) by more than three seconds to 4: 14.080 minutes, followed by 4: 13.453 minutes in the final to undercut again. So far, only four athletes have been faster than him in the single pursuit over 4000 meters worldwide.
The most successful athletes in the championships were Olympic champion Kristina Vogel and her teammate from Team Erdgas.2012 , who both won the sprint , keirin and team sprint titles .
As in the years from 2014 onwards, the German championships in the Omnium will be held on 15./16. December also organized in the Oderlandhalle.
