Maximilian Dörnbach (born December 24, 1995 in Heiligenstadt ) is a German track cyclist .
Athletic career
2011 Maximilian Dörnbach was German youth champion in sprint ; in the 500 meter time trial he was runner-up. In the junior team sprint (with Richard Aßmus and Nikolai Hoffmeister) he also took second place.
In 2012, at the U23 and Juniors European Railway Championships in Anadia , Portugal , Dörnbach became Junior European Champion in the team sprint, together with Aßmus and Jan May . He finished fourth in the 1000 meter time trial. At the German track championships in Frankfurt / Oder he won four titles in the juniors, in the time trial, in the team sprint (with Aßmus and Hoffmeister), in the keirin and in the sprint. At the European Railway Championships for Juniors and U23 in 2013, again in Anadia, Dörnbach was again European champion in the team sprint, together with May and Patryk Rahn and in the sprint. He set a new junior record in both the sprint and team sprint (with May and Rahn) . In the same year he became junior world champion in the 1000-meter time trial.
At the UEC European Rail Championships (U23) in 2014, Maximilian Dörnbach won the bronze medal in the team sprint together with Robert Kanter and Richard Assmus . The following year he won his first national individual title, in the 1000-meter time trial . In 2015 he became European champion (U23) in the time trial and together with Richard Aßmus and Max Niederlag in the team sprint. In the following year he was again U23 European time trial champion and won the bronze medal in the team sprint with Richard Aßmus and Jan May. In autumn 2016 Dörnbach fell ill with an inflammation of the heart muscle .
In 2017 Dörnach started in the international elite for the first time. At the 2016/17 Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, he won the team sprint together with Robert Förstemann , Eric Engler and Max Niederlag . In the 1000 meter time trial, he finished second. At the UCI Track World Championships in 2017 , he finished seventh over the kilometer, fourth in the team sprint in 2019 with Stefan Böttichter and Timo Bichler and sixth in the time trial in 2020 .

Maximilian Dörnbach has been in a relationship with cyclist Emma Hinze since 2019 ( as of 2020 ).
Awards
- In 2014 Maximilian Dörnbach took second place in the election for “Junior Sportsman of the Year”, which is organized by Deutsche Sporthilfe . A training bonus is associated with the award.
