Willy Gottfried
Willy Gottfried (born May 11, 1896 in Hanover , † December 10, 1968 in Hohen Neuendorf ) was a German racing cyclist .
Willy Gottfried learned to ride a bicycle at the age of ten and began an apprenticeship as a bicycle mechanic at the age of 14. A year later he drove his first youth races, but was soon called up as a soldier in the First World War, in the course of which he was wounded three times. It wasn't until 1920 that he was able to race again and became a professional . In 1923 he was German sprint runner-up and in 1925 he won the title. He also started in six-day races . Approx. In 1930 he resigned from active cycling.
