Tobias Wächter (born August 3, 1988 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German track cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2004 Tobias Wächter became German youth champion in the sprint , in the time trial he took third place. The following year he was German junior champion in the team sprint , together with David Wilken and Daniel Rackwitz . At the German Championships in 2006 in Cottbus, he managed a third place in the junior keirin .

In 2009 Wächter took second place in the team sprint at the German Railway Championships in Erfurt together with Stefan Nimke and Marc Schröder . At the World Cup races in Manchester in October 2009, he finished third in the team sprint together with Nimke and Robert Förstemann . In 2010 Wächter was nominated for the World Railroad Championships in Copenhagen , but without being able to place successfully. In the same year he managed to win three titles in Cottbus : Wächter was both German champion in the team sprint together with Stefan Nimke and Marc Schröder as well as in the sprint and in the Keirin. In September 2010 he became European champion in the team sprint together with Joachim Eilers and Philipp Thiele . In May 2012 he won the Alexander Lesnikow Memorial in the Velodrome of Krylatskoje in Moscow . At the European Rail Championships in the same year Wächter was two-time European champion in the Cido Arena in Panevėžys, Lithuania , in the team sprint (with Joachim Eilers and Max Niederlag ) and in the Keirin.

In 2014 Tobias Wächter was once again European champion in the team sprint, together with Förstemann and Joachim Eilers . At the German championships in Cottbus in the same year he won the bronze medal in the sprint. In 2015 he became German champion in the team sprint together with Robert Förstemann , Eric Engler and Robert Kanter .

Wächter ended his cycling career at the end of 2017.
