Philipp Thiele (born April 4, 1990 in Halle ) is a former German track cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1999 Philipp Thiele started cycling in the RSV Osterweddingen club . In 2005 he moved to RSC Cottbus and from 2006 was a member of the “ Track Team Brandenburg ”.

Since 2006, Thiele has won several medals at German junior and youth championships on the track and has taken part in European and junior world championships. His greatest success up to that point was at the UEC European Track Championships for Juniors / U23 in 2010 in Saint Petersburg . There he was together with Joachim Eilers (Chemnitz) and Tobias Wächter (Schwerin) European champion in the team sprint and vice-European champion in the individual sprint .

At the first run of the Track Cycling World Cup 2012/13 , Thiele won two gold medals in Cali , in the sprint and in the team sprint (with Eric Engler and Marc Schröder ). In 2014 he ended his cycling career.
