Eric Engler (born September 21, 1991 in Cottbus ) is a German track cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2009, Eric Engler, together with Erik Balzer and Stefan Bötticher, became vice world champion in the junior team sprint. In the same year he won the gold medal in the same discipline with Erik Balzer and Alexander Reinelt at the European Junior Championships.

From 2010 Engler started in the elite class. In 2012 he became German champion over 1000 meters. At the first run of the Track Cycling World Cup in 2012/13 he won a gold medal in the team sprint (with Marc Schröder and Philipp Thiele ) and a bronze medal in the sprint in Cali .

At the 2012 U23 and Juniors European Track Championships in Anadia , Engler won gold in the team sprint (U23) together with Stefan Bötticher and Erik Balzer . The following year he repeated this success together with Max Niederlag and Erik Balzer. In 2014 he was again German champion in the elite 1000-meter time trial. In 2015 and 2016 he won the team sprint title. In 2017 he won gold in the team sprint at the Track Cycling World Cup in Cali together with Robert Förstemann , Maximilian Dörnbach and Max Niederlag.
