Michael Seidenbecher (born November 6, 1984 in Erfurt ) is a former German track cyclist .
Athletic career
Michael Seidenbecher was successful in the short-term disciplines of track cycling. Even in the junior classes, he won over 20 Thuringian state titles on track and road , until the sprint trainer Jochen Wilhelm noticed him.
From 2010 Seidenbecher became six times European champion and ten times German champion in the sprint , keirin , team sprint and 1000 m time trial disciplines . Seven years in a row, from 2002 to 2008, he won the Albert Richter Sprinter Cup of the Association of German Cyclists .
In 2010 Michael Seidenbecher fell badly at the keirin final of the World Cup in Cali . Seriously injured, he had to stop training for three months and then found it difficult to build on his previous form. In 2011 he won the Keirin competition at the Memorial of Alexander Lesnikov in the Velodrome of Krylatskoje in Moscow and in the team sprint with Sebastian Döhrer and René Enders . Due to a lack of results, however, he was only nominated as a substitute driver for the Olympic Games in London the following year. He then ended his active cycling career.
Professional
From 2003 to 2007 Michael Seidenbecher completed his training to become a police officer in the sports promotion group of the Federal Police. In April 2017 he was promoted to chief commissioner.
