Soeren Lausberg
Sören Yves Lausberg (born August 6, 1969 in Eisenhüttenstadt ) is a former German track cyclist . He was a specialist in the 1000 meter time trial and the team sprint .
Athletic career
Sören Lausberg started cycling at the age of eight. When his talent was recognized, he switched from the company sports association to the sports school and from ASK in Frankfurt to SC Berlin . From 1997 to 2000 he started for Team XXL Erdgas , and most recently for RSV Werner Otto .
For around 15 years, Sören Lausberg from Berlin was among the world's top rail drivers in the 1000-meter individual time trial (“kilos”). During this time, the multiple German champion started at world championships and the Olympic Games . In his favorite discipline over 1000 meters, he never managed to win a world championship, but there he was runner-up four times and came fourth at the Olympics twice. He was also twice runner-up in the team sprint and third three times. In 2006 he drove his last race in the Berlin six-day race .
Lausberg drove for the RSV " Werner Otto " Berlin . Since retiring from active cycling, he has been working as a computer scientist for the Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment (FES) in Berlin. There he is head of the measurement and information system department ( as of 2017 ).
