List of neighborhoods in Shinjuku district of Tokyo

This list of the districts of the Tokyo Shinjuku district lists all of today's districts in the area of Shinjuku , Tokyo Prefecture in the western center of Tokyo . Only the clearly delimited areas are listed, as they are also used for postal addresses in Japan .

Many districts consist of several numbered quarters ( 丁目 , chōme ), which usually span several blocks. In some Tokyo districts, several districts are combined into one area ( 地域 , chiiki ). For historical reasons, three areas can be distinguished in Shinjuku: Yotsuya, Ushigome and Yodobashi. They correspond to the districts of the same name in the old city ​​of Tokyo , which existed until 1947, and the Shinjuku district was created through the merger of these.
