Giordano Turrini

Giordano Turrini (born March 28, 1942 in Anzola dell'Emilia ) is a former Italian track cyclist .

Giordano Turrini was the dominant specialist in Italy for the short-term disciplines on the track in the 1960s and 1970s, alongside Ezio Cardi . He has won national titles in tandem races and sprints 13 times . He also competed 13 times at the UCI track world championships ; In 1968 he became world champion in tandem races in Montevideo , together with Walter Gorini . In 1965 he was runner-up in the amateur sprint world championship and in 1966 he was third in the tandem race with Gorini. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico , he won the silver medal in the sprint.

The following year, Turrini became a professional and then stood on the podium several times at rail world championships. He also started twelve times in six-day races ; In 1970 he took third place in Launceston together with Charly Walsh . In 1980 Giordano Turrini ended his active cycling career.

Professional

Before he started working as a professional driver, Turrini worked as a fitter at a factory of the Alfa Romeo group in Milan .
