Roberto Chiappa (born September 11, 1973 in Terni ) is a former Italian track cyclist .

Roberto Chiappa was active as a track cyclist for over 20 years. In 1990 he finished third in the sprint at the Junior World Track Championships in Middlesbrough, England, and won this competition the following year. By 2009 Chiappa had won numerous Italian championship titles in the sprint, keirin , team sprint and 500 m time trial . Internationally he was able to achieve several podium places in World Cup races . Of the renowned international sprint tournaments, he won the Champions of the Champions Trophy in London in 2001 .

In 1993 Roberto Chiappa became world champion in tandem races with Federico Paris . In 1994, when this discipline was on the program of the UCI track world championships for the last time , the two riders took third place.

Roberto Chiappa took part in four Olympic Games, 1992 , 1996 , 2000 and 2008 . His best finish was a fourth place at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona .

In August 2010, the 36-year-old Chiappa won his 47th and 48th national titles at the Italian track championships in Mori , in the sprint and team sprint (with Loris Paoli and Andrea Prati ).
