Primo Bergomi

Primo Bergomi (born January 1, 1917 in Milan , † December 1, 1987 ) was an Italian track cyclist .

In 1939 Primo Bergomi was Italian champion in the amateur sprint in 1939 ; at the UCI track world championships in Milan in 1939 , he finished fourth. Then he went over to the professionals . In 1940, 1943 and 1945 he won the national sprint title as such. Until 1952 he was second and third in the Italian Sprint Championship several times, always beaten by Italo Astolfi from 1946 to 1950 . In total, he took part in four track world championships, but never made it to the podium. In 1942 he won the Gran Premio di Torino , one of the oldest international sprinting tournaments in Italy. It has been held since 1894, the first winner was the German Alwin father .
