Sante Gaiardoni (born June 29, 1939 in Villafranca di Verona , Veneto ) is a former Italian track cyclist who won two Olympic gold medals in 1960.

In 1958 and 1959 Sante Gaiardoni was second in the sprint of the amateurs at the UCI Track World Championships behind Valentino Gasparella . In both years he won the Italian championship title in the tandem race .

In 1960 Gaiardoni was Italian champion in the sprint and 1000 meter time trial . In the same year he won the sprint world title . At the 1960 Olympic Games , he set a new world record in the 1000-meter time trial in 1: 07.27 minutes and won with a one and a half second lead over the German Dieter Gieseler . In the sprint, he defeated the Belgian Leo Sterckx in the final and won his second gold medal.

In November 1960, Gaiardoni turned professional. In 1962 he lost in the final at the World Championships in the sprint against his compatriot Antonio Maspes . A year later he was able to defeat Maspes in the world championship final. In 1964 he won his only professional title at the Italian championships in the sprint. In 1966 and 1969 he was third in the World Cup. In 1970 he was in the final again, but lost there against the Australian Gordon Johnson . His last competition was in February 1971 in Milan at the six-day race there. After finishing his career, he worked as a car salesman in Milan.
