Sergei Vladimirovich Kopylov

Sergei Vladimirovich Kopylov ( Russian Сергей Владимирович Копылов ; born July 29, 1960 in Tula ) is a former Soviet track cyclist and three-time world champion .

Athletic career

Sergei Kopylow comes from a cycling enthusiast family, he started training on the cycling track in his hometown of Tula at a young age. In 1978 he became junior world champion in the sprint and vice world champion in the 1000 meter time trial , after he had become vice world champion in the junior sprint in 1977. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , he won bronze in the sprint.

In 1981 Sergei Kopylov won the sprint classic Grand Prix de Paris and the world championship in the sprint in Brno , and in the time trial he took third place. In 1982 he became world champion in sprint for the second time, and in 1983 amateur world champion in time trial on the track. In 1984 he was able to win the Grand Prix de Paris one more time . Kopylov started working for the SKA Tula association throughout his career.
