Mario Ghella

Mario Ghella (born June 23, 1929 in Chieri ) is a former Italian racing cyclist who was successful as a track cyclist .

Ghella was Italian track sprint champion four times in a row between 1945 and 1948. In 1948 he took part in the Summer Olympics in London . Ghella started in the track sprint and won the tournament, in the final he defeated the British Reg Harris . Two weeks later Ghella became amateur world champion in the track sprint.

Ghella later joined the professionals. In 1951 he was Italian champion in the track sprint, in 1957 he ended his career.
