Ezio Cardi

Ezio Cardi (born October 24, 1948 in Bardolino ) is a former Italian track cyclist .

Ezio Cardi was next to Giordano Turrini the best Italian specialist for the short-term disciplines on the track in the 1970s. He was Italian champion eight times between 1970 and 1977; five times in the sprint , once in the 1000-meter time trial and twice in the tandem race . In spring 1971 he won the Coppa San Geo, one of the most important amateur races in Italy. Also in 1971 he won the GDR Grand Prix in the sprint.

In 1972 Cardi started at the Olympic Games in Munich in the sprint and time trial; in the sprint he could not place, in the time trial he finished ninth. He then became a professional driver and remained active until 1978. At the UCI track world championships in 1973 he won the bronze medal in the sprint.

After the end of his cycling career in 1978, Ezio Cardi opened the “Bici Center” bike shop in his home town of Bardolino. He is also involved as a coach in cycling, such as since 2011 with the “Mantovani Cycling Team Fontana”.
