Mouritius "Maurice" Prosper Peeters (born May 5, 1882 in Antwerp , Belgium , † December 6, 1957 in Leidschendam ) was a track cyclist , Olympic champion and world champion.
Peeters, who became a Dutch citizen in 1908 , won the gold medal in the sprint over 1000 meters with a time of 1: 38.3 minutes at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . In the same year he became world champion in this discipline and won the sprint classic Grand Prix de Paris among the amateurs . Four years later he won the bronze medal in the 2000 m tandem competition at the Olympic Games , together with Gerard Bosch van Drakestein . He was also four times Dutch champion in the sprint of amateurs .
