Alwin father (born September 21, 1869 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ), † 1918 ) was a German track cyclist and speed skater .

Alwin father grew up in Karlsruhe and did an apprenticeship as a businessman after graduating from high school. In 1884 he learned cycling on a unicycle , moved in 1887 to Niederräder the company Opel and soon drove the first race on the track.

In 1890 father moved to Frankfurt and joined the Frankfurt Bicycle Club , where he was looked after by the later world champion August Lehr . In 1890 he was the first German champion in the sprint of amateurs and in 1891 again; In 1892 he became European champion. He also set several German records. In 1894 he traveled to Italy , where he won races in Turin , Milan and Brescia .

Father was not only active in cycling, but also in other sports, including fencing and soccer . In 1893 he became the Frankfurt champion in speed skating; for 1500 meters he needed 3 minutes and 47 seconds.

In 1894 Alwin's father retired from active cycling. He died in 1918.
