Artur Kern

Artur Kern , also Arthur Kern (* March 7, 1902 , † February 26, 1988 in Kirchzarten ) was a German educator, psychologist, university lecturer and book author with over 90 publications who worked from Freiburg. He advocated the holistic method in reading classes , which was controversial in the 1970s . In 1987 he was awarded an honorary doctorate in Heidelberg.

Life

Artur Kern was initially active in teacher training in Heidelberg and from 1959 in Freiburg . In 1987 the Heidelberg University awarded him an honorary doctorate .

He made publications, among others, with his older brother Erwin Kern (1897–1988) who was also a teacher and director of the State School for the Deaf in Heidelberg and from there also worked as a university teacher.
