Philippe Vernet  (born May 13,   1961  in Le Raincy  ) is a former French   track cyclist  .
In 1983 Philippe Vernet became world champion  in  tandem  races in Zurich  together with Franck Dépine   . In 1984 he won at the  Olympic Games  in  Los Angeles  in the  Sprint  fourth was French champion in sprint and won together with Depine the title of  vice-champion  on the tandem. In 1985, 1987 and 1988 he finished second in the French sprint track championships. After finishing his  professional  career in 1989, Vernet remained active as a cyclist and achieved numerous successes at  Masters  for older athletes.
