Andrzej Michalak

Andrzej Michalak (born April 7, 1959 in Radom ) is a former Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Michalak won eight titles at the Polish track cycling championships . He won three tandem races : 1983 and 1984 with Ryszard Wesołowski and 1985 with Zbigniew Płatek . He won the 1000 meter time trial in 1981. Further podium places were added. He won four junior titles .

In 1980 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics in Moscow . He finished 11th in the time trial when Lothar Thoms won and started in the team pursuit in a four .

In 1980 he won the Polish Grand Prix in the time trial. In 1979, 1981 and 1983 he started at the UCI track world championships . Michalak was the first Polish sprinter to complete the last 200 m in less than 11 seconds (10,909 in Moscow on August 20, 1984).
