Józef Kupczak

Józef Kupczak (born May 5, 1917 in Kosma; † April 5, 1999 in Krakow ) was a Polish cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

Kupczak was six times Polish track cycling champion . In the sprint he was champion in 1938, 1946, 1948 and 1953. In 1946 and 1952 he was a member of the championship teams in the team pursuit .

In 1938 and 1939 he represented Poland at the UCI Track World Championships , but retired from both starts in the sprint qualifying rounds.

Professional

After his active career, he became a cycling coach in Kraków and was also a coach for the national team of track sprinters for several years. Among other things, he trained Jan Magiera .
