The 13 UCI Track Cycling World Championships found from August 30 to September 4, 1912 at the Velodrome in Newark instead. The race days did not follow each other because of the rain.

Only a few starters from overseas took part in the World Championship races in Newark, which is why the response in the German press was very low. The Rad-Welt wrote: " The forgiveness of the world championships to America has turned out to be a mistake, as the overwhelming power of the Americans is overwhelming and the representatives of the other nations have little prospect of one of the championships. Apart from that, the UCI congress a humoresque, as only three men showed up [...]. "

The standing world championship for amateurs had to be canceled due to a lack of starters.
