Thaddäus Robl's triumphal march as a stayer began in Berlin.

The 2nd UCI Track World Championships took place from July 7th to 14th, 1901 on the Velodrome in Berlin-Friedenau .

Four races were held, two each for amateurs and two for professional drivers . The disciplines on the program were aviation races, today sprint , over 2 km and a standing race over 100 km (behind two-seat motorcycles). 10 nations were at the start. A total of 20,000 spectators saw the races over three days.

For the first time, Thaddäus Robl became the world champion of professional stayers , and his career took off with it. The Dane Thorvald Ellegaard won his first world title out of a total of six in the professional sprint in Berlin.
