Track cycling world championships 1896
The track cycling world championships in 1896 took place from August 15th to 17th in Ordrup near Copenhagen . The organizer was the "International Cyclists Association", a predecessor organization of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). 120 racing drivers were at the start.
Four races were held, two for amateurs and two for professional drivers . The disciplines on the program were aviation races, today sprint , over 1 mile and standing races over 100 km (behind non-motorized multi-seater pacemakers, so-called trip and quadruplets).
The Danish royal family was also on site for the professional stand-up race. The Rad-Welt reported: "Chase finishes the 100 km in the best condition and is then introduced to the king, who asks whether the winner is tired, which he answers with a strong 'No'."
