UCI track world championships 1914
The 15th UCI Track World Championships took place on August 2, 1914 on the Velodrome in Ordrup near Copenhagen .
Since the First World War broke out on July 28, 1914 , numerous racing drivers who had already arrived received their draft notices and left again. Therefore, only the race was amateur - stayer discharged as the only official competition. Briton Leon Meredith , who had won the title in this discipline seven times, was considered the favorite. He was also in the lead for a long time, but surprisingly had to give up after 60 kilometers.
Subsequently, the world championship for amateur stayers was no longer held until 1958.
