José Antonio Villanueva

José Antonio Villanueva Trinidad (born February 3, 1979 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish track cyclist .

Until the mid-2000s, José Antonio Villanueva was one of the best track sprinters in Spain. Twice - in 2003 and 2006 - he was Spanish champion in the sprint, and in 2003 in the 1000-meter time trial .

In 2000 he took third place in the team sprint at the World Track Championships in Manchester , together with José Antonio Escuredo and Salvador Meliá ; four years later, at the World Track Championships in Melbourne, Trio was runner-up in the same line-up. In 2002 Villanueva was also vice world champion in the keirin . He also took numerous podium places in world cup races .

Twice - in 2000 and 2004 - Villanueva took part in the Olympic Games, his best placement was a sixth place in the 2000 Sprint in Sydney.

José Antonio Villanueva has been piloting the visually impaired athlete José Enrique Porto on the tandem since 2009 . Together, the two athletes won two silver and four bronze medals in sprints and time trials (as of 2015) .
