Kerrie Meares (born September 4, 1982 in Blackwater ) is an Australian cycling trainer and former Australian track cyclist .
In 1999 Kerrie Meares was runner-up in the junior 500 m time trial world championship ; In 2000 she became Junior World Champion. Since then, she has won numerous national and international titles in short-term disciplines on the track. Eight times she took first places in the Commonwealth and Oceania Games in time trials, keirin and sprint . She has also been the Australian champion in short-term disciplines several times, most recently in the Keirin in 2009 and in the team sprint with Emily Rosemond ; she won eight national titles in total. In 2010 she retired from competitive cycling.
Kerrie Meares' planned participation in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens failed due to a herniated disc.
In 2009 Meares ended her active cycling career. She then worked as a cycling trainer together with her sports colleague Emily Rosemond (as of 2016).
Kerrie Meares is an older sister of former track cyclist and two-time Olympic champion Anna Meares , who came to cycling through the example of Kerrie.
