Michelle Louise Ferris (born September 24, 1976 in Warrnambool , Victoria ) is a former Australian track cyclist specializing in short-term disciplines.
Athletic career
Michelle Ferris's international sporting career began in 1993 when she Junior World silver medalist in the sprint was, a year later they finished third. In 1995 she finished third in the women's sprint World Cup .
In the following years Michelle Ferris was four times vice world champion in the sprint and 500 m time trial ; She came third three times. Between 1997 and 2000 she was the Australian sprint champion four times in a row. The last time she was runner-up was the 1999 World Cup in Berlin . Her greatest competitor was the French Félicia Ballanger , who often beat her and sent her off.
Twice Michelle Ferris took the Olympic Games in part, in 1996 in Atlanta , where she silver in the time trial won as well as 2,000 in Sydney ; both times she was defeated by Ballanger. After the Olympic Games in front of a home crowd, Ferris resigned from international competitive sport.
After the sport
Michelle Ferris has been appointed ambassador for the Gay Games 2010 in Cologne . Professionally she is u. a. active as a motivational trainer (as of 2010) and as a cycling trainer.
